The Kurn Hattin Career Awareness Program (CAP) marches on with another step forward in the educational exploration journey. The most recent CAP adventure took eighth-grade students to Keene State College for an exciting scavenger hunt, giving them a fun, hands-on introduction to college life.

Students were energized by the prospect of exploring the campus, and the experience was packed with discovery. With maps, clues, and guidance from Keene State Admissions Officer Carrie Holmes, students ventured across campus, engaging with college students and staff members to answer a series of questions in their fact-finding assignment. From the Lloyd P. Young Student Center and Mason Library to the Redfern Arts Center and Spaulding Gymnasium—where they watched the KSC Owls basketball team practice drills—each stop provided a glimpse into college life.

The true goal of the scavenger hunt, however, was to break down barriers and help Kurn Hattin students envision a future that could include higher education. Many may not have considered college as a possibility, but walking through the campus, interacting with students, and enjoying new experiences opened their eyes to exciting opportunities.
